CMS Students Produce Podcasts About 6 Local Organizations

Each year CMS celebrates Forum Week, during which we suspend our normal curriculum and the entire school focuses on a single topic. This year the topic was podcasting. The students started the week with discussions about what makes a good podcast, and analyzed some popular podcasts available on the Internet. Then they worked in groups to create podcasts about 6 historically-significant local organizations: Champaign County Historical Museum, Courier Cafe, Common Ground Food Co-Op, League of Women Voters of Champaign County, Capoeira Angola Center, and First United Methodist Church of Urbana. The finished podcasts, which you may listen to here are entirely student-created: the girls researched their topics, conducted interviews, wrote scripts, composed music, and recorded and edited the final podcasts. CMS deeply appreciates the generous participation of all of our interviewees, as well as the staff of the Archives Department at the Urbana Free Library.
