Last week, CMS students returned to the long standing tradition of traveling to Allerton Park for a two-day retreat. Packed with pillows, sketch books, bug spray and snacks, students excitedly headed to Allerton in Monticello, IL., and were greeted with exceptionally great weather and fantastic scenery. Students went on hikes (both during the day and at night), learned and practiced archery skills, and engaged with nature through art mediums. Most importantly, the students were able to get to know a little about each other through fun icebreakers and group social activities, including the ever-popular “Lip Synch Spectacular”. And let’s not forget the food….each grade was responsible for preparing and cleaning up one meal. And no campout is complete without smores! One cannot question how valuable this tradition is at CMS and we were happy to be able to return to Allerton for the experience!
